ADULTS and TEENS needed!
We can’t produce HONK! without more adults and teens who can play larger roles with confidence. Which of these larger roles are you interested in?

  •         Ugly – Gawky and odd-looking, he is shunned for his odd appearance, but possesses a heart of gold. This role is written for a tenor but could be played by an alto. Ugly grows up and meets a lovely young swan to partner with.
  •         Ida – Ugly’s loving mother, and the only person who is supportive of the outcast child. She is a soprano who can sing both with vim and verve, and with heart-breaking care. She should move well for her numbers with Maureen and Ugly.
  •         Cat – Sly and cunning, and hungry for roast Duckling. He can be played by a high tenor or alto, and must move well, with a slightly feline touch. He must decide if the hunt for the perfect meal is really worth it, or if he’d rather move in with his special friend Queenie.
  •         Drake – Ugly’s reluctant father. He’d rather go fishing with the guys than take care of his brood, and is embarrassed by his unusual son. He eventually appreciates how hard it is to be a mother. He is a baritone, and does not need to have great movement skills.
  •         Maureen’s friend who is sometimes supportive, and sometimes judgmental. She has a fun duet with Ida in the 1st act, and a touching solo later in the show. Mezzo who moves well.
  •         Lowbutt – The pet hen of the Old Woman. Best friend to Queenie. Fears change. Her personality is reminiscent of Carol Burnett’s “the maid” character. Mezzo with 2 songs.
  •         Queenie – humorous, snobby, indoor cat who lives the high life. Personality reminiscent of “Laverne DiFasio”  or “Peggy Bundy”. Soprano with 2 songs. Tangoes with Cat.
  •         Greylag – A Gander and the admiral of the goose squadron charged with Ugly’s safe return. Tenor/alto who can learn marching/formation movements
  •         Dot – Greylag’s composed, respectful wife. Acts as the “flight attendant” for their ride. Soprano who can learn marching/formation movements
  •         Bullfrog – A laidback, self-confident frog who is encouraging, light-hearted, and optimistic. He is a tenor/alto who leads an upbeat song and dance number with Ugly and the Froglets.
