Townsend Military Band Concert August 4-2022
Ken Arsenault, former Hawthorne Brook Middle School Band Director, will be conducting the
Townsend Military Band at its Thursday, August 4th, concert on the Townsend Common. Mr. Arsenault has played trumpet in the Townsend Band for many years and conducts the band occasionally.
The Friends of the Townsend Library will host the lawn party to be held in conjunction with the August 4th band concert. They will be offering hot dogs, popcorn, fried dough, and soda and bottled water for sale. A wide variety of home baked goods will also be available.
Children attending the August 4th concert may pick a lollipop in hopes of winning a prize and play the bean bag toss and fish pond games. A bounce house will be set up on the Common for their entertainment and temporary tattoos will be available.
There will be a recruiting table where people may learn about the Friends of the Townsend Library as well as their Haunted Trail event in October and find out how they may get involved with one or both.
Area residents of all ages are encouraged to bring their lawn chair or blanket to the Common that evening so they may sit and socialize with other concertgoers while they enjoy good music, refreshments, and fresh air.
The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 by playing Hildreth's arrangement of “Our Director March” and Custer's adaption of “The Saints Hallelujah”. “Highlights from Oklahoma” arranged by Yoder, the “Baby Elephant Walk” arranged by Moss, and Hildreth's arrangement of “Under The Double Eagle” will be performed. Custer's adaption of “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “The Wrong Note Rag” arranged by Ricketts will be played.
