Understanding how a person’s cognitive deficits affect their functional ability helps care providers choose appropriate non-pharmacological care approaches to calm, reassure and communicate with them. Upon completion of this course, participants will better understand:

How dementia can affect the brain, body, personality and behaviors
Goals of non-pharmacological therapies
Various types of non-pharmacological therapies
How to manage challenging behaviors with non-pharmacological interventions
