Efforts to protect clean water and steward green landscapes for healthy human and wildlife communities include the need to address the impacts of our changing climate. Partnering and learning about new concepts to help our communities increase their climate resiliency is key.  To that end, the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Wild and Scenic Stewardship Council and the Nashua River Watershed Association invite you to join us for a free presentation on “Demystifying Depaving”.

DESCRIPTION: Organizers of DePave Somerville will share their experiences and knowledge about a simple yet groundbreaking way to increase green space, decrease flooding, and bring some hurt on asphalt.
SPEAKERS: Renée Scott runs a Somerville community organization called Green & Open Somerville which works to improve and increase green spaces with a focus on ecological restoration and climate change resiliency. She depaved her own driveway in 2012, got hooked, and joined the organizing team in 2019.
Leigh Meunier works to transform how we relate to ourselves, each other, and the urban ecosystem through public and environmental education, music, street art, community organizing, and supporting the local efforts of many amazing individuals and community groups addressing issues of environmental conservation and climate and immigration justice. She has been depaving with DePave the Way since 2015.
Cador Pricejones has been depaving since October of 2010 as part of 350.org's first global day of action. When not gardening, solving crosswords or planning his next vacation, Cador is estimator for Byggmeister, an employee owned contractor specializing in high performance remodeling in the greater Boston area.
